Tottenham fans voted Eric Dier their man of the match after their 1-0 win over Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup last night.
The 21-year-old was offered out as one of three options on Tottenham's official Twitter feed and was an overwhelming favourite with fans ahead of Jan Vertonghen and Andros Townsend.
And voting for the young centre-back made plenty of sense for Spurs fans during an attritional game that was based on solid defending.
Statistically, meanwhile, those who voted for Dier were proven right.
Indeed, as stats on WhoScored.com show, Dier impressed for Tottenham defensively, winning five interceptions and making six clearances. The 21-year-old also made two tackles and completed 88.9 per cent of his passes.
Dier won a further three aerial duels, as well as hitting the target with one of his two shots.
The young Tottenham defender's display means he has now impressed consistently over the past few days for Mauricio Pochettino's side - and Federico Fazio may have a battle on his hands for a first-team place when he returns from illness.
