The powerful striker is not a regular at Southampton but is a hero for Zambia.
Southampton have lost a few players to international competitions this month. Maya Yoshida has gone to the Asian Cup with Japan while Sadio Mane is with the Senegal team contesting the African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. Another man missing will be Emmanuel Mayuka.
He has barely featured for Southampton since he joined from Swiss side BSC Young Boys Bern in 2012. But he remains a vital member of the Zambia national football team.
Today he took on Tunisia with his nation and had a very eventful game to say the least.
Zambia were dominating the game against the Carthage Eagles but could not find the back of the net. However, after delightful football from Chipolopolo captain Rainford Kalaba the ball landed at the feet of Mayuka on the half-volley. He smashed it home to give Zambia a well deserved lead.
That is when it started to go wrong for Mayuka and Zambia.
Moments after giving them the lead Kalaba played the ball across an open goal for Mayuka to slide home and put the game beyond doubt. But during his slide he caught his studs in the poor turf and seemed to suffer a rather serious looking groin injury.
While he was down and receiving treatment, Zambia, down to ten men, conceded to Tunisia from a corner. The game finished 2-1 to Tunisia after a late header from captain Yassine Chikhaoui.
Mayuka was stretchered off after the incident and it looks as though he will face a battle to play the final group game.
