Report: Southampton and QPR considering moves for Football League hotshot Jordan Rhodes

Southampton and Queens Park Rangers are interested in Blackburn Rovers forward Jordan Rhodes.

Southampton and Queens Park Rangers are both said to be considering signing Jordan Rhodes, according to the Daily Mail.

Rhodes has impressed in the Championship for a number of seasons and it seems that he could make the step-up to the top-flight in the near future.

Swansea City are apparently interested, but Southampton and QPR are both keeping a keen eye on the progress of the deal as they feel Rhodes could increase their attacking options.

The centre-forward is highly rated by his current club Blackburn Rovers and would cost a sizable fee, but the lure of Premier League football could be too much for him to reject.

At Southampton he would likely be utilised as back-up for Graziano Pelle, but he would bring similar qualities to the Italian.

Powerful in the air and a clinical finisher, Rhodes is arguably the closest type of player to Pelle in England and he would make a good addition for the Saints as they gun for European football.

A move to Loftus Road looks unlikely, given that Harry Redknapp has previously stated to the Daily Mirror that his side have no funds to spend in the window, but the possibility of signing a player of Rhodes' quality could make them reconsider this stance.

Rhodes has scored 9 goals in 26 appearances so far this season in England's second tier.
