Rangers fans hoping for opposition to Mike Ashley's request for Ibrox as security have just been handed a boost.
The Scotsman has reported that a fund has been created, which will back the Rangers Supporters Trust should they contest the decision for Ibrox to be used as security for a loan from Mike Ashley.
The Trust doesn’t want to see Rangers’ historic stadium fall within the clutches of the Newcastle United boss, with the Scottish paper confirming the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund will supply the group with any cash they need for future challenges.
The news will come as a welcome boost to any Rangers fans who may hold fears over Ashley’s intentions should he gain control of Ibrox in the near future.
There’s no doubt that any loan from Ashley is useful in terms of providing the club with capital but some supporters will be wary of something similar happening to when Ashley chose to rename Newcastle’s St James Park.
A spokesman for the RFFF has confirmed the group will back any supporter or group looking to protect the club’s assets as Rangers look to move forward.
