Report: Arsenal linked with Metz midfield star Yéni N'Gbakoto

A report from Foot Mercato claims that Arsenal could be set to battle it out with Porto in a bid to land Metz midfielder Yéni N'Gbakoto.

Arsenal could turn to the French club responsible for unearthing stars like Robert Pires and Sylvain Wiltord for their latest Gallic acquisition, according to fresh reports.

French website Foot Mercato is claiming that the Gunners are set to duke it out with Porto for the signing of Metz midfielder Yéni N'Gbakoto.

The site insists that N'Gbakoto is highly unlikely to move in the winter window but could be available in the summer.

A France international at Under-17 and Under-18 level, the 22-year-old is the latest exciting prospect to come out of the club not only responsible for launching the careers of both Wiltord and Pires but also Emmanuel Adebayor and Louis Saha among others.

Capable of playing on the right wing as well as in a central midfield role or further forward as an attacking midfielder, and even striker when required, N’Gbakoto has long been tipped for big things, having impressed throughout his time in France.

The youngster played a pivotal role in helping Metz gain promotion from Ligue 2 last season, scoring 14 goals as Les Grenats made a return to the big time.

He’s already scored four times in Ligue 1 this season and could be open to a move and the chance to work under Arsene Wenger in London.

Metz currently sit fourth from bottom in Ligue 1 with only goal difference separating themselves from Evian and the third and final relegation place.
