Predicted Manchester United line-up v Cambridge: Valdes and Herrera to start

Manchester United 3

Here are the 11 players we predict will line up for Manchester United against Cambridge United on Friday:

On Friday evening, Cambridge United host Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Cambridge defeated Luton Town 2-1 in the third round of the competition while United overcame Yeovil Town 2-0.

Cambridge are currently 12th in League Two and this gives them a wonderful opportunity to write themselves into the history books. But Louis van Gaal will be all too aware of the risk of not taking their opponents seriously, after his side looked out of sorts against Yeovil in the previous round.

United will continue to harbour thoughts of Premier League success, even if three draws over the festive period and a recent home defeat to Southampton have seen them slip back in the title race after their six-game winning streak had suggested they were contenders once more.

Van Gaal will know the FA Cup is his most likely chance of a trophy in his debut season and for that reason he is sure to name a strong side.

Recent signing Victor Valdes is expected to start in goal ahead of David de Gea, while the likes of Ander Herrera and James Wilson may also get the nod having been used sparingly in the league in recent weeks.

Below is the side we predict United will play for Friday’s match:

Predicted Manchester United XI: Valdes, Rafael, Jones, McNair, Rojo, Blind, Fellaini, Herrera, Di Maria, Wilson, Falcao
