Let's get one thing straight: Simon Mignolet has definitely improved of late.
But doubts about the Liverpool goalkeeper most certainly remain. With Brad Jones injured - and not the most convincing deputy, anyway - calls for Brendan Rodgers to bring a new shot stopper to Anfield have been constant in recent months.
Could Rodgers, however, have gone down a different route in training?
Well, it's unlikely. But Philippe Coutinho was still snapped trying himself out as a goalkeeper at Melwood on Thursday afternoon. Who knows - if he's any good, he could at least make it as Liverpool's no.2 in between the sticks.
The Brazilian has been in fine form outfield recently, of course, although Coutinho's wastefulness in front of goal still haunts the Reds going forward.
Against Chelsea in their Capital One Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday night, Liverpool produced their best display of the season so far but, like the 22-year-old, the Reds as a whole could have done with being a little more clinical in front of goal during the 1-1 draw.
As for Mignolet, he will have to keep up his own improved form of late should he feature against Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup this weekend - as he may have a new rival for the no 1 shirt! (Probably not)...
