The Birmingham City winger has enjoyed a breakthrough December.
Despite being just 18-years-old, Gray has enjoyed a positive season with the Blues, and he is considered as one of the best prospects in the Football League. He has made 21 appearances in the Championship, starting 14 games, and has scored four goals.
Whilst his entire season has been a breakthrough for the English youth international, the month of December was the real standout for him, and it has been announced that Gray has been named as Football League Young Player of the Month for that month, as per the official Football League website.
The award covers players across all three Football League divisions, and Gray was chosen having put in five top class performances, scoring three goals, and helping move the Blues into the top half of the table.
All three goals Gray scored came in the same game - a 6-1 victory over Reading - and his 34-minute hat-trick has done much to increase the rumours that a top flight transfer could be lined up for the month of January.
Speaking to the Football League website, Gray praised recently appointed Blues boss Gary Rowett for working with him and improving his confidence.
He said: “I'm still young and I'm still learning but overall I'm happy with the way I'm playing. I feel like I've improved every week and I've got to aim to be as consistent as possible.
"Gary Rowett coming in has given me a massive confidence boost. They've worked one on one with me. Lots of little things, but still things that are important.”
