The Celtic boss was full of praise for his defender.
The Norwegian was delighted the with Celtic man's performance during the 4-0 win at Motherwell, as Lustig provided a good 50 per cent of his side's goals, striking twice in the second half.
The 28-year-old had been out injured for some time but has now returned to action for the Bhoys and only the harshest of critics could have demanded more from the defender upon his return.
And Celtic boss Deila was delighted that Lustig could contribute as much as he did - and is now looking forward to seeing more from the Swede.
Celtic boss Ronny Deila now speaking: "I am very pleased with the win and I am happy for my defenders and the clean sheet." (MD)— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) January 21, 2015
RD: "Lustig is an important player and he impressed me. We have a good squad and we have everyone available."— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) January 21, 2015
RD: "We have been patient with Lustig. I am happy for him and hopefully we can get more consistency with him."— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) January 21, 2015
Deila clearly rates the 28-year-old and, based on tonight's performance, that comes as no surprise.
Celtic's win takes them back to the top of the SPL - a point clear of Aberdeen with a game in hand over the Dons.
