The Stoke Sentinel has suggested two reasons Mark Hughes’ side don’t believe they can sign Aaron Lennon from Tottenham Hotspur.
Lennon has been suggested as a potential target for Stoke before the close of the current transfer window, but the local paper feels Everton have the advantage to get him.
The paper cites an incident last summer, where Lennon seemed to disappear ahead of a potential move to Stoke, as well as the player’s personal desire to choose Goodison Park over the Britannia, as the main reasons Hughes may be left frustrated in attempts to snap up the winger.
Lennon is arguably one Tottenham player who couldn’t be criticised for seeking a move away from White Hart Lane, because of his inconsistent game time under Mauricio Pochettino so far this season.
However, he may well end up remaining at Spurs if he’s against a move to Stoke and if Everton aren’t interested in a reported swap deal involving Kevin Mirallas.
