And a second report, this time published by Corriere dello Sport, and quoted by Sport Witness, has indicated that the Viola could be looking to secure Manchester United’s promising winger Adnan Januzaj as his replacement. Whilst not a direct replacement, with Cuadrado predominantly an outside right, and Januzaj taking up a left-sided position, the report suggests that the 19-year-old is Fiorentina’s first-choice to replace their outgoing star.
After bursting onto the scene last term under David Moyes, the Belgian international has endured a tougher season this year, with just 14 appearances to his name. He has struggled to get into Louis van Gaal’s starting XI ahead of the attacking talents signed over the summer, and his progress has slowed because of it.
There is no indication as to whether Fiorentina are interested in signing Januzaj permanently, or to whether they only intend to loan him until the end of the season, but, with his high level of potential, there is good reason to surmise that United would only be interested in lending him out to ensure the young talent will receive consistent playing time in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Cuadrado has also been linked with a move to the Red Devils, as highlghted by the Mirror, and the Viola's interest in Januzaj could be the key factor that helps United secure the 26-year-old international’s signing.
