Aston Villa are set to fend off interest from both Bayern Munich and Liverpool to secure the future of star prospect Easah Suliman, according to the Daily Mail.
Suliman, 16, has been with Villa since the age of eight, and signed scholarship forms over the summer.
A versatile defender, the Hall Green-native has captained England at Under-17 level, and the Daily Mail reported in April that his impressive performances in the FA Youth Cup had attracted the attention of Bayern scouts.
Compared to former Villa product and fellow centre-back Gary Cahill, the club’s ex-academy manager Bryan Jones told the Guardian in October: “I personally believe he could potentially be the next big one to come through.”
It’s encouraging news, therefore, that Villa are reportedly set to sign Suliman to a two-and-a-half year professional contract on Friday, ahead of turning 17 next week, although holding off interest once he starts to make an impression on the first-team in the coming seasons will no doubt prove a harder matter.
