Manchester United transfer round-up: Brazilian’s huge price-tag, Hummels latest and more

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is reportedly considering a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos according to the Sun, but the report goes on to claim that the Dutchman has been told he will have to fork out an incredible £112million to get his man.

Of course one can only assume this fee has been cited to put United – and any other potential suitors – off making a bid for the talented youngster.

In other news, Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel has been speaking about his admiration of United in comments published by ESPN.

“I have always liked Manchester United from when I was young,” the Belgian international is quoted as saying.

While United need quality midfield additions as soon as possible it remains to be seen if Witsel would be the best available option.

And finally, the Manchester Evening News reports that United are prepared to wait until the summer in a bid to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels.

The German international would be the perfect addition to United’s back-line, but the latest report claims Hummels is United’s number one target and that they hope to conclude a deal in the summer.
