Luke Murphy has been looking back on Leeds United's win against Bournemouth this week.
Leeds United midfielder Luke Murphy has been speaking to the club’s official website following his match-winning goal against Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.
The 25-year-old scored his second goal in two games to ensure Leeds followed up their 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers with a 1-0 against the Cherries a few days later.
Leeds’ result lifted them to 19th in the Championship table but they will need to get a lot more points on the board as soon as possible if they want to avoid a tough 2015.
Leeds manager Neil Redfearn has given a number of different players a chance to impress in recent weeks, but Murphy has stood out, scoring his first two goals of the campaign after returning from an Achilles tendon injury.
In regards to his fine strike this week, the midfielder told LeedsUnited.com, “It just came across my body and I hit it with my left foot.
“It had a bit of swerve on it and sometimes they go in, most of the time they end up in row Z.”
Not this time though, with Murphy’s strike vital as Redfearn looks to lift his side up the table after an eight-game winless run saw them slip perilously close to the drop-zone.
When asked if the goal was the best of Murphy’s career, he replied, “It’s one of them,” and he will surely be hoping to add more to his tally before the campaign is through.
