Tottenham media round-up, links with Cagliari midfielder as Naughton has medical

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur in the media this Wednesday evening ahead of the League Cup clash with Sheffield United.

Tottenham are tracking 18-year-old Cagliari midfielder Godfred Donsah according to the London Evening Standard.

He has made 12 appearances for the Serie A side so far this season, but the Standard's report, which cites 'sources in Italy' say there are other Premier League clubs interested in the Ghanaian with Stoke City, Sunderland and West Brom all reportedly watching him.

Kyle Naughton's £5 million move to Swansea City is nearing completion with the The Daily Mail reporting the defender has undergone a medical in South Wales, with the club hoping to announce the deal tomorrow. However, the Evening Standard has reported he is moving for exactly the same terms of £20,000 per week. It was thought to be the reason he rejected a move to the Liberty Stadium in the summer, but lack of playing time in the first half of the season means he was more inclined to make the move this time.

The Mail is also reporting that midfielder Etienne Capoue is attracting interest from Spain in the form of Real Sociedad, who are now managed by former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes.

Moyes is believed to be interested in taking the midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season.

Ahead of tonight's clash with Sheffield United in the first leg of the semi-final of the League Cup, Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino has said the side must respect their League One opponents to avoid slipping up, with Spurs heavy favourites to get to Wembley.

He's quoted by the club's website, saying: “We need to go step by step, game by game. We know this semi-final is difficult, a tough game.

“The level of the team isn’t important - Premier League, Championship or League One - when you play over two games, everything is possible.

“We need to show more desire than our opponent and this is the key.”
