Free Windows 10 upgrades for Windows 7, 8.1 and Phone users

Windows 10 device example 1

The Microsoft briefing dropped the big news today.

Good news for those of you that run Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows Phone 8.1, you will be eligible for a free upgrade to Microsoft's new Windows 10 operating system in the first year of its release.

The news comes from Microsoft's Windows 10 briefing today held at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, USA.

For those that use their PCs to play games the free upgrade is particularly interesting, as it comes with DirectX 12, which won't be available on Windows 7.

Thanks, PCGamer.
