Former Liverpool prospect Ryan Babel praises Raheem Sterling on Twitter

Ryan Babel

The Dutchman was impressed with Sterling's performance against Chelsea.

There once was a time when the talent of Dutchman Ryan Babel was being heralded in the same way Raheem Sterling's is currently. When he burst onto the scene at Ajax he was clearly one of Europe's best young talents.

With blistering pace and an eye for goal from any angle it was Rafa Benitez who convinced him to join Liverpool in 2007 for £11.5 million from Ajax, according to the Daily Mail.

Babel’s four-year spell at the club was mixed in terms of success. On occasions he demonstrated that quite terrifying natural ability in abundance.

But after injury niggles, fitness issues and Twitter rows Babel’s status at the club diminished rapidly. He signed for Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim in 2010. Since then he has played for boyhood outfit Ajax again and is now turning out for obscure Turkish outfit Kasimpasa.

However, he is still a follower of all things Liverpool and last night he was certainly appreciative of Sterling's performance for Liverpool.

The young England international scored the equaliser in an excellent performance, which saw the Chelsea defenders struggling to deal with him throughout the night.

Babel posted several Tweets on the matter of Sterling's performance and clearly, he was impressed with what he saw:
