Footballers and their 'snow pics': featuring Leeds United striker Billy Sharp

After just missing out on a 'white Christmas', it looks as though the snow is set to start interrupting the fixture lists.

Last night, the League One clash between Oldham Athletic and Rochdale was called off due to extremely snowy conditions.

No one would have argued that this was not the correct decision after the Greater Manchester club posted this picture of Boundary Park on their official Instagram page.

Several players from the Football League took to Twitter to share their 'snow pics and we start with Leeds United striker Billy Sharp who posted this picture of himself with his son...

Then Notts County midfielder Nicky Wroe got involved with a traffic report of sorts...

And finally, Preston North End defender David Buchanan didn't want to miss out on the fun...

Fingers crossed he made it in for training.

Last night's League Cup semi-final first leg between Liverpool and Cheslea saw the 'yellow ball' in action and, rather interestingly, that meant the goal-line technology had to be re-configured.

Nobody wants a football match to be called off so here's hoping that no more of this week's remaining fixtures fall foul to the white stuff!
