Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn will be delighted with the way his side battled to a 1-0 win against Bournemouth in the Championship last night.
It was a result that few probably would have been expecting and a result, which makes Redfearn’s job over the rest of the week slightly easier.
Here are five mid-week talking points for the manager.
How do we use our time?
Leeds don’t play again until the end of the month because they’re out of the FA Cup. Redfearn needs to judge how much time to give the players off and how hard they should be training before getting their teeth stuck into next week.
How will Huddersfield be different?
The players could have a couple of days off in light of their schedule, but Redfearn can turn his attention to Huddersfield straight away. It will be interesting to see how he approaches the game and whether anything is majorly different from the Bournemouth game.
How do I keep the players calm?
There’s going to be a great atmosphere in training after the result last night and Redfearn faces a challenge in terms of how to keep everyone level headed and grounded. It’s important the focus shifts firmly onto the next game.
What’s going on with regards to transfers?
It’s still unclear who, and even if, Leeds will sign before the end of the current transfer window. Several names have been mentioned in terms of rumours, but some concrete additions will give the boss extra options over the second half of the season.
What changed in the defence?
The defence against Bournemouth last night was superb. Redfearn needs to consider the best aspects of the performance, bottle them up and ensure that the back four is consistent over the next few weeks.
