Eric Dier has told Tottenham Hotspur's official site that complacency will not be an issue when they take on Sheffield United tonight.
Spurs go into the Capital One Cup Cup semi-final as heavy favourites to beat their League One opponents on paper - but the young defender is not taking them lightly.
The Blades have developed a habit of beating Premier League sides in cup competitions in recent years and Dier is determined to ensure that Spurs aren't another notable scalp.
“It’s a cup semi-final so it doesn’t really matter who you are – anyone can win cup games,” he said. “We’re going to have to be at our best for both games against Sheffield United and hopefully we can get to Wembley at the end of it.
En route to the semi-final, Sheffield United have knocked out Southampton and West Ham United, continuing their fine recent tradition of knocking out higher-league opposition (they also dispatched Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup).
Spurs have improved vastly in recent weeks, however, and their recent home form has been a major reason behind this success.
With seven wins and two draws in their last nine games at White Hart Lane, they will head into tonight's match full of confidence and, from Dier's words, it seems that they will not be resting on their laurels, despite facing lower-league opposition.
