Here are the sides as Tottenham Hotspur host Sheffield United in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final.

Tottenham Hotspur: Vorm, Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Davies; Townsend, Mason, Stambouli, Eriksen; Adebayor (c), Kane

Subs: Friedel, Kaboul, Rose, Dembele, Lennon, Paulinho, Soldado

Sheffield United: Howard, Harris, Basham, Flynn, Doyle, Murphy, Scougall, McNulty, McEveley, Campbell-Ryce, Reed

Subs: Turner, Alcock, Baxter, Higdon, Kennedy, Adams, Wallace

Tottenham Hotspur will head into the League Cup clash against Sheffield United this evening as the favourites to get a win ahead of the second leg.

Spurs will likely look to press and attack from the first minute because Mauricio Pochettino will be well aware of how difficult the game away in Sheffield could be.

The boss has had selection dilemmas in the build up to this game, as he decides whether to go all out with his strongest side or whether to hold players back for the FA Cup this weekend.

For Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough, the job this evening will be to contain Spurs and get the match back to their stadium.

The Blades will be well supported this evening and they’ll need that support to be in full voice because this is a difficult game against a team packed with quality throughout their squad.
