Three Tottenham stars who must play against Sheffield United

Tottenham Hotspur are well equipped to deal with a physical approach from Sheffield United.

Sheffield United star Jose Baxter has been quoted by the Daily Star suggesting his team could take a physical approach to the League Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Baxter claims Premier League players aren’t as used to physical contests but it’s dangerous for him to stoke the fire because Spurs have some imposing players, who can dominate if a rough approach is the one the Blades want to take.

Here are three Tottenham players who must play tomorrow night, with Sheffield United likely to adopt a physical approach to the game.

Mousa Dembele

Blessed in terms of technique but a player who loves to take on opponents and beat them in physical contests. His core strength is extremely impressive and that makes him difficult to get the better of in the air and it allows him to protect possession at key times.

Benjamin Stambouli

Has taken a little while to get his teeth stuck into the Tottenham first team, but he could be key in front of the back four. He holds his position well and gets stuck in, breaking up the play and announcing his presence to ensure that Tottenham’s centre backs don’t get bullied with balls over the top.

Andros Townsend

Not the most physical player, but his pace would be useful in physical contests because it allows him to get away from opponents quickly. If Sheffield United are preoccupied with roughing him up, he’s good enough and quick enough to utilise pockets of space, which will keep him out of harm’s way.
