Tottenham Hotspur are just over a day away from embarking on their next cup match, this time against Sheffield United.
The London Evening Standard has published what it claims is the provisional Tottenham Hotspur squad for the upcoming Capital One Cup semi-final first leg against Sheffield United on Wednesday.
Ryan Mason will reportedly return against the League One side but Erik Lamela will apparently not feature.
Tottenham remain in all four competitions this season and they will need all of their considerable playing-staff to step up in the weeks and months ahead if they wish to remain in contention for those trophies.
Tottenham are currently sixth in the Premier League, two points off fifth spot and three points away from a Champions League qualifying place.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men take on Italian side Fiorentina in the next round of the Europa League next month while they have a FA Cup fourth round match against Leicester City on Saturday.
Tottenham have rotated their squad well so far and it will be interesting to see who plays in the first-leg of an encounter they will be desperate to win with a cup final tantalisingly close.
According to the report, the following players are in contention for a starting berth:
Provisional squad: Loris, Vorm, Friedel, Walker, Yedlin, Rose, Davies, Dier, Fazio, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Chiriches, Stambouli, Dembele, Paulinho, Capoue, Mason, Eriksen, Chadli, Lennon, Townsend, Soldado, Adebayor, Kane
