Reports in Italy claim that Palermo centre-back Sol Bamba is due to complete a move to Leeds United on Wednesday.
Palermo defender Sol Bamba is set to join Leeds United tomorrow, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Bamba, 30, joined the Serie A club as a free agent from Trabzonspor in August, but has made just one appearance this season.
Club president Mauro Zamparini confirmed in an interview with Italian outlet TMW last week that the Ivorian centre-back would be allowed to leave in the current transfer window, following a report from the Daily Mail that Leeds were in talks over a loan deal.
"Outgoing we have Makiekok, Bamba,” he said. “Players who are not playing."
Bamba put in a largely commendable shift at the World Cup in the summer, starting all three group games for the Ivory Coast, but his lack of first-team football since saw him miss out on a place in the African Cup of Nations squad this month.
Nevertheless, having proven a solid contributor at the Championship level in the past at Leicester, where he established himself as a fan favourite, he should prove a shrewd signing to strengthen the Leeds backline.
Di Marzio hasn’t dug into the exact details of the deal between the two sides but, given the previous reports, a loan spell seems the probable outcome.
