The young full-back has enjoyed a breakthrough season this year, having enjoyed a positive loan spell with Watford last term.
He was recalled early from his loan and spent the second half of the campaign in-and-around the Gunners’ first-team squad. He made the bench for a handful of Premier League fixtures, but he only made one appearance, in a League Cup third round tie against West Bromwich Albion.
However, he has been a consistent member of starting XI’s this term, with Arsene Wenger using the 19-year-old as cover due to a number of injury problems. 12 appearances in all have been totalled, with six Premier League games under his belt - with the most recent being at the weekend, in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory at Manchester City.
The youngster is highly-rated in the Gunners ranks, and he will surely be looking to break through in the coming seasons to enjoy a more consistent run in the first-team. However, the current situation means that he is nothing more than back-up, and a report in periodistadigital.com has suggested there may be a solution to his playing time problem, with La Liga side Getafe keen on taking him on loan for the remainder of the season.
The report indicates that they would sign a six-month deal, with the option to extend for a further season if Bellerin enjoyed his time with the Madrid-based club.
There is yet no indication as to where Arsenal stand on the deal, with Bellerin currently providing cover in the defensive positions. Due to the injury troubles endured at the Emirates Stadium, it is likely that the only reason the 19-year-old Spaniard would leave the club would be if another signing was in the works for the defensive positions.
