A youngster formerly said to be closing in on a move to Tottenham Hotspur has now swapped Serie A for the Bundesliga.

Back in the summer of 2013, the Guardian reported that Tottenham Hotspur were in talks regarding the double signing of Alen Halilovic and Tin Jedvaj from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

The two players were making waves in their homeland and the possibility of Spurs bringing them both to White Hart Lane was a tantalising prospect.

Unfortunately for Tottenham fans, the moves never occurred, with Hallilovic ultimately signing for Barcelona and Jedvaj moving to AS Roma.

It was a major blow for Tottenham’s then-manager Andre Villas-Boas following claims the pair could be available for £17.1million (a potential bargain given their talent).

And now Jedvaj is back in the news having turned his loan move from Roma to Bayer Leverkusen into a permanent deal.

The 19-year-old defender was photographed signing his contract in a picture later published on Leverkusen’s official Twitter account, after penning a deal that runs until 2020.

With Halilovic currently impressing for Barcelona’s B side, having made his debut for the senior team in the Copa Del Rey this season, and Jedvaj now a regular for Leverkusen, it seems Tottenham missed out on two future stars.
