Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Milos Veljkovic has left the club on loan for the rest of the season, joining Championship side Charlton Athletic.
The news was confirmed on Spurs’ official Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon.
The 19-year-old is predominantly a centre-back although he can also play as a defensive midfielder if required.
Veljkovic recently returned from a loan spell at fellow Championship side Middlesbrough, but the young Serb rarely featured, making only four appearances for the club including just two starts.
Veljkovic is likely to feature more regularly for Charlton and it will be interesting to see how he develops in the months ahead, given his impressive reputation at White Hart Lane.
He may have a way to go before he can stake a claim for a regular starting berth in Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but this loan move is another step in the right direction.
Charlton are currently 16th in the Championship, having seen their fine early-season form drop off disturbingly; and the presence of Veljkovic can only be a good thing for a side that has conceded 11 goals in their last four league games.
