West Bromwich Albion are hoping to sign Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso on loan, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The reports states that the Baggies are on the look out for additions to strengthen their squad under new manager Tony Pulis and they feel Alonso has a lot to offer.
Alonso spent last season on loan at Sunderland, where he impressed in the Premier League and showed his ability to play in England's top flight.
Indeed, the Black Cats' interest in signing him on a permanent deal his summer was reported by the Sunderland Echo, but their attempts were blocked due to Fiorentina's intention to use him in their own first team.
Alonso has played a key role for Fiorentina this season, but it is understood that they are prepared to listen to offers and it seems that West Brom could be looking to take advantage of this.
Pulis is expected to change his personnel during his first transfer window in charge of the Baggies and Alonso could be one of the new faces.
