Manchester United loanee Nani thrives in Sporting Lisbon victory

The Portugal international put in an excellent performance in his side’s 4-2 win over Rio Ave yesterday.

With the arrival of the likes of Angel Di Maria and Ander Herrera to boost Manchester United’s midfield options, long-term winger Nani has become something of a forgotten man.

Just whether or not the 28-year-old will return to Old Trafford next season remains to be seen, but the Portugal international is clearly thriving whilst on loan at former club Sporting Lisbon.

Nani put in an excellent performance in his side’s 4-2 victory over Rio Ave yesterday, scoring one and setting up another for his side.

The video below shows Nani’s coolness under pressure, as the diminutive winger slotted home Sporting’s first from the penalty spot.

With the game in the balance at 2-1, the United man provided a pin-point cross for Joao Maria to head home the hosts’ third, as can be seen in the video here.

Nani has now started 14 Primeira Liga games this season and scored three goals for his side.

If his good form of late continues for the rest of the season Louis van Gaal could well have a tough decision to make ahead of next season.
