Rodgers predicts quiet window

19 days into the transfer window, and Liverpool have yet to make a transfer - which is something of a surprise given that fans expected manager Brendan Rodgers to improve the club's options at goalkeeper, centre back and up front.

Rodgers gave an exclusive interview with talkSPORT this morning, and told supporters not to expect much more than rumours, with the Reds boss predicting a quiet end to the transfer window.

"It will be quiet," he said. "I’ve said before we wouldn’t be doing much over the course of January. There are players who are linked with Liverpool all the time. That may be agents looking to get their player a move. For us, it will be pretty quiet."

Origi set to remain with Lille

After he impressed at the World Cup, Liverpool forked out £10m to sign Belgian striker Divock Origi from Lille, but were forced to loan the teenage forward back to the Ligue 1 side for the duration of the season.

Yet with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert struggling to make an impact at Anfield this season, speculation suggested that Liverpool could look to bring Origi back to Merseyside six months early - but Rodgers told talkSPORT that it won't be happening.

"The original deal was for him to come next summer," he said. "There were a few discussions in January. The likelihood is that he will stay at Lille. He’s a really exciting young talent and has got everything you need for the Premier League. He’s fast, has great feet, is tactically very good, and he works hard."

"Everything is set up for him to come to the Premier League. He just needs to finish the season at Lille and we’ll have him for next season," he added.

Enquiry made for Marseille youngster

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Liverpool have made an enquiry for Marseille midfielder Mario Lemina.

The Gabon born youngster was signed by Marseille from Lorient just 18 months ago, but has featured in 16 games for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season.

With Steven Gerrard heading off to MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy this summer, the Reds will be linked with a host of different midfielders, and you can now add Lemina to that list.
