Lionel Messi sets another astonishing landmark at Barcelona

Messi Close Up

The Argentina international scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 victory over Deportivo on Sunday, which is the 30th time he has scored three times in one game.

Lionel Messi has started 2015 with a bang, and showed his class in Barcelona’s 4-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor on Sunday.

As can be seen in the video below, the extraordinary Argentine scored the first three of his side’s goals in the rout.

The goals were another example of Messi’s class, with one a header, the second a delicate chip over the opposition goalkeeper and the third an unstoppable left-footed drive.

The feat means that the four-times Ballon d’Or winner has set another individual personal record for the Catalan club, as it was Messi’s 30th hat-trick for Barcelona.

Messi’s personal record against Deportivo now stands at 12 goals from 10 games, while he has scored hat-tricks on his last two trips to the Riazor.

After Cristiano Ronaldo had scored twice earlier in the day against Getafe, the Barcelona man was clearly out to prove a point and did so in emphatic style.
