Chelsea morning round-up: Terry brushes off best ever talk, Mourinho on Gerrard

A round up of news stories this morning related to Chelsea.

Chelsea captain John Terry has told the Daily Star that he doesn’t feel this current Blues side is Mourinho’s best ever.

Chelsea sit at the top of the Premier League with a good advantage over Manchester City after they lost to Arsenal yesterday.

Terry says that until the current side pushes on and starts winning trophies, they can’t be considered as one of the best.

Jose Mourinho has admitted to ESPN that not signing Steven Gerrard ranks as one of his biggest transfer disappointments during his career.

The Blues boss was linked with a move for the Liverpool captain during his first spell as manager at Stamford Bridge.

“Yes (not signing Gerrard his biggest disappointment), but I have another one when I was trying Lampard to Inter,” said Mourinho.

Mourinho’s respect for Gerrard is so healthy that according to the Independent, he’s asked spporters to stop chanting about the Reds legend.

Chelsea fans started a chant after Gerrard slipped in the important Premier League game last season, losing possession to ex-Blues forward Demba Ba who went on to score.
