Tottenham Hotspur continued their fine recent form with a 2-1 win against Sunderland this weekend, and not for the first time this season they had Christian Eriksen to thank for a late winner.
The 22-year-old Danish international has been fantastic this season and he continued to impress against a Sunderland side who very nearly held out for a point at White Hart Lane.
Eriksen has always been known as a wonderful provider of goals - as his assist-record testifies - but the Tottenham player has now added regular goal-scoring to his list of attributes.
Saturday's strike was Eriksen's eighth goal of the season and while Tottenham are still in desperate need of a new quality front-man their young play-maker is doing a fine job of standing in.
As you can see from the statistic below, Eriksen had a passing accuracy of 84 per cent against Sunderland, which was below his usual best, but alongside his 99 touches he had an impressive six shots (three of which were on target).
|Passing Accuracy||Key Passes||Touches||Duels Won||Shots||Shots on Target||Forward Passes||Mins Played|
The Tottenham player is no longer just a provider but also a consistent goal-threat and six efforts on goal in a single match tells its own story.
Mauricio Pochettino has a wonderful talent on his hands and the way Eriksen is going, he could become one of the very best players to ever grace the English top flight.
