It is reported in the Serbian media that Chelsea are on the verge of completing a deal for the midfielder.
This time last year Chelsea pulled off a transfer deal for an Eastern European talent that appeared to pass most fans and media by. That was Croatian starlet Mario Pasalic, who is now on loan at Spanish strugglers Elche.
Could they be about to do a similar deal?
According to Serbian paper Vecernje Novosti they already have.
They report that Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign the player, whose contract expires in the summer. Partizan have been hoping to keep the player, who reportedly rejected Juventus in 2014, according to Vecernje Novosti, however it seems Chelsea will be adding to their Serbian contingent with Nemanja Matic and Branislav Ivanovic.
The same report claimed that Chelsea will agree a compensation deal for the player and complete the signature within the next ten days.
They also hypothesise that Chelsea are likely to send him out on loan to their Dutch feeder club Vitesse Arnhem.
Pantic is an 18-year-old talent who currently plays for the Serbia under-21 side. He made his debut for Partizan when he was just 16 and this season he has played 12 times, scoring once. He played 90 minutes against Tottenham in a Europa League tie earlier this season.
If this deal does come off, Pantic could be facing Tottenham on a more regular basis as a Chelsea player.
