The Bhoys defender has hailed his 18-year-old team-mate.
Matthews opened the scoring for Celtic during their 2-0 win, before 18-year-old Henderson doubled the SPL champions' lead to secure all three points.
And the Bhoys defender has nothing but praise for his young team-mate, who he says already showed signs of how good he is last season.
“Liam has been brilliant for us,” Matthews told Celtic TV. “Even last season, you could see how good a player he is, when he played a few games.
“He has showed that in training this season, at Kilmarnock with the way he played and then against Hamilton with his goal.”
Meanwhile, Matthews also discussed his goal for Celtic at Hamilton, with his opener setting the tone for the clash after the 23-year-old netted a wonderful strike from distance.
Matthews revealed that it was skipper Scott Brown who gave the order for the shot, so to speak...
“It was good build-up play,” he said. “Kris Commons played a good ball to me and, after I took my first touch, Browny shouted ‘Shoot!’ so I didn’t think twice and, luckily for me, it went into the top corner. It was a nice strike but the most important thing was winning the game.
Celtic's victory has closed the gap behind league-leaders Aberdeen to just two points after the Dons drew 3-3 with Dundee yesterday afternoon, while Ronny Deila's men still have two games in hand.
