The Belgian forward has been discussing his new dietary plans.
Tottenham Hotspur look like genuine Champions League contenders again under Mauricio Pochettino and one of the stars of the team has been explaining just how he has improved his game in an interview with The Independent.
Nacer Chadli says that while hard work has had a big part to play, his form is also down to a drastic change in his dietary habits.
He explained that he visited an Italian health centre this summer, where his dietary requirements changed:
“I was learning there how to eat the best way, because you have to eat a certain way to help your body recover as fast as possible...
“They gave me advice, and I don’t drink milk any more. Only sometimes soya milk. And I don’t eat cheese.
“I eat a certain amount of fruit and vegetables, and it is better to eat fruit before a meal. Normally, I was eating fruit after as a dessert, but it is better to eat it before. I am allowed to eat meat one or two times maximum a week, and for the rest a lot of fish and chicken. I think it has helped me.”
You would be hard pushed to find a Tottenham fan that disagrees. Last season, following a £7 million summer switch from FC Twente, not many a Tottenham fan took Chadli into their heart. The Belgian struggled for regular playing time and in January the Daily Star reported that Spurs had accepted a bid from Swansea for his services.
Chadli later confirmed he had snubbed a move to Swansea to the Daily Mirror and Tottenham fans are likely glad that was the case.
With his new diet seemingly working wonders time will tell if he can help Tottenham march into the top four of the Premier League.
If he does, then everyone might start borrowing his meal plans.
