The Villarreal striker is making waves in Spain since a summer move from Argentina and has been recognised for a spectacular December.
Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto has been highly impressive this season, and as a result The Telegraph, Metro and The Mirror all reported in late December that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers had identified the Villarreal man as a possible transfer target.
The 21-year-old has been dubbed in some quarters as ‘the new Sergio Aguero’, with the young striker’s recent efforts being recognised by the La Liga authorities.
The former Racing striker has been awarded the La Liga Player of the Month accolade for December, after a number of scintillating displays for the El Madrigal outfit.
Villarreal won all of their games in December in La Liga and in Europe, with Vietto scoring three domestic goals and striking once in the Europa League.
The ex-Racing hitman netted his side’s winner against reigning champions Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon and also hit a brace against Deportivo La Coruna last month.
Liverpool are currently finding it difficult to replace Luis Suarez in their attack, with summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert yet to win over the Kop while Daniel Sturridge has been injured.
Should Vietto’s excellent start in Spain continue, transfer rumblings and the amount of admirers of the Villarreal striker will surely increase.
