The Old Trafford outfit could well use the Portugal international as a bargaining chip in their efforts to land William Carvalho.
Manchester United’s recruitment drive in recent transfer windows has seen the side bolster their attack, but there is no doubt that Louis van Gaal’s central midfield still remains a point of contention.
Although the Old Trafford outfit have been linked with a plethora of stars in recent times, one name that is consistently mentioned as a United target is William Carvalho.
The impressive Sporting Lisbon star continues to dazzle for club and country, and recently admitted that he dreams of playing in England.
With this in mind, United surely are in an excellent position to land the holding midfielder.
Not only have the Manchester club worked closely with Sporting in the past to sign the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcos Rojo, but Nani has moved between the clubs.
With the likes of Angel Di Maria added to United’s squad in the summer, Nani’s future at Old Trafford looks doubtful and he is on a season-long loan deal at Sporting in 2014-15.
With the 28-year-old starting 13 Primeira Liga games this season for the Lisbon-based outfit and clearly a favourite of manager Marco Silva’s, offering Nani in part-exchange for Carvalho this summer would be a wise option.
United have spent big in recent transfer windows and as such will have Financial Fair Play regulations to contend with, so lowering the asking price for Carvalho by throwing Nani into the deal seems like a winner for all parties.
