Liverpool will look to extend their unbeaten run to six Premier League games as they travel to Villa Park this afternoon to face Aston Villa.

The Reds defeated Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light last weekend, leaving them just five points off a top four place despite their poor season so far.

Steven Gerrard miss out through injury, but manager Brendan Rodgers has chosen to continue with the 3-4-2-1 system which has served him well in recent weeks, with Raheem Sterling coming back into the side after a prolonged rest.

Their opponents Villa lie just three points clear of the relegation zone, and a fan protest is set to be staged this afternoon against the continued reign of manager Paul Lambert.

With only 11 goals scored in 21 games this season, Villa are comfortably the lowest goalscorers in the Premier League, and new signing Carles Gil has been handed a place on the bench.
