Swansea City begin life without Wilfried Bony [though they wouldn't have had him anyway] against title chasing Chelsea, while the visitors will look to kick on from their win last weekend over Newcastle United which gave them a two point cushion at the top of the table.
To be played on Saturday 17th January 2015 at 15:00. Venue: Liberty Stadium, Swansea
Odds: Swansea 6/1, Draw 16/5, Chelsea 4/7
After a relatively disappointing Christmas, Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side have re-established a cushion at the top of the Premier League with their win over Newcastle United, and will look to pile on the pressure as they play 24 hours earlier than title rivals Manchester City.
Swansea have had a pretty good season so far and sit in ninth place in the Premier League, but they haven't managed to register a win in their last three games. However, they should take confidence from the way they performed at Stamford Bridge earlier on in the season, and how they've acquitted themselves against the top sides.
Chelsea will be looking to end a poor run of form on the road having only won one of their last five games away from Stamford Bridge in the Premier League as they look to build the kind of momentum in the second half of the season that will see them lead the way to their first title in five years.
Thibaut Courtois should be fit enough for the visitors, but it's not as if they are short in quality in the goalkeeping department should Jose Mourinho decide not to take the risk with Petr Cech more than capable of standing in for the Belgian.
It could prove to be a key game in both side's seasons.
“It’s a really good challenge for us - the players and myself - to put on a performance that warrants a good result. There are chances in every game to score goals, and we’ll be working hard to take the ones we get.”
“I know that they have a very good team, and a very good team does not depend on one player. I don't think to lose a good player for them, they are going to be less of a team.”
