West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott is a shock transfer target for Greek champions Olympiakos, according to L’Equipe.
Lescott, 32, only joined the Baggies in the summer, signing a two-year deal after leaving Manchester City on a free transfer to reunite with former Everton assistant manager Alan Irvine.
After missing the first four Premier League games of the season, the ex-England international has since been an ever-present in the top-flight, making 17 appearances and even captaining the team for four games in the absence of Chris Brunt.
However, with Irvine sacked last month, and Olympiakos looking for defensive reinforcements in the wake of Eric Abidal’s retirement, the Athens-based outfit are hoping to convince the centre-back to make the move across Europe with a lucrative offer.
This isn’t in fact the first time Lescott has been linked with a switch abroad, having been a reported target for Schalke, Al Ain and the Portland Timbers of MLS at the end of last season, according to the Daily Mail.
