Report: Newcastle United tracking progress of Jordan Veretout

Newcastle United are reportedly looking into the possibility of signing Jordan Veretout.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Nantes midfielder Jordan Veretout should Moussa Sissoko leave the club, according to the Chronicle

The Magpies have apparently been scouting Veretout for some time and feel he is the perfect replacement should their key man be persuaded to leave St. James' Park.

Newcastle are understood to be desperate to keep hold of Sissoko, but with Arsenal's interest reported by the Daily Mail it seems that a transfer could happen.

Veretout would be a low-profile replacement, but there may be a belief that he has the potential to fill the void that Sissoko's departure would leave.

A French Under-21 international, Veretout is a capable attacking midfielder and he has managed six goals in Ligue 1 this season.

It has been an impressive tally for someone of such tender years to accumulate and it seems his fine form has not gone unnoticed.

Nantes are said to be unwilling to sell unless a large sum is offered for their prized possession, but the funds raised from the Sissoko sale would enable Newcastle to meet their asking price should they wish to.
