Manchester United transfer round-up: Meeting today over possible right-back signing

Seamus Coleman for Republic of Ireland

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester United.

The Daily Mail suggests Manchester United will hold a meeting today to determine whether or not Louis van Gaal will spend big on a full-back this month.

The Mail’s report suggests Everton star Seamus Coleman and Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne are both options.

The paper claims that United would expect to have to pay a fee of over £20 million to sign the Toffees star.

The Daily Star reports that Old Trafford officials have urged Adnan Januzaj to stay at the club.

The Star mentions that Aston Villa, Everton, Stoke City and Newcastle United are all reportedly interested in signing him on loan.

However, he’s been encouraged to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has questioned the value of Louis van Gaal’s 3-5-2 formation in his column for the Independent.

Scholes suggests the system is well designed for United to keep the ball but restricts them in terms of the goals they score.

Scholes has also suggested that the Manchester United attack lacks pace.
