David Gold clarifies Carl Jenkinson's transfer situation, jokes about West Ham flop

The West Ham co-chairman says the Arsenal loanee cannot be recalled by the north London side.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has confirmed via social media that Arsenal cannot recall loanee Carl Jenkinson this month.

Arsenal have suffered multiple injuries recently, with Mathieu Debuchy now ruled out for up to three months.

And speculation has suggested the Gunners could recall West Ham's Carl Jenkinson, with the right-back himself admitting to Sky Sports he does not know the ins and outs of the terms of his loan deal.

Gold, however, has taken to Twitter to confirm that Arsenal cannot end the right-back's loan spell at Upton Park.

Jenkinson has impressed down the right-hand side for West Ham so far this season and Sam Allardyce will no doubt welcome the official clarification of the Hammer's transfer status.

Meanwhile, Gold also tweeted humorously about one of West Ham's infamous flop signings Benni McCarthy.

The striker struggled in east London after being accused of being overweight and failing to adapt to the physical demands of the Premier League.
