Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin says that he is delighted to have been named as the Premier League's Player of the Month for December.
Austin received the award today and it was recognition for his fine form during the season to date.
The 25-year-old scored five goals in as many games across the month of December, helping QPR to avoid being cut adrift.
He becomes only the second R's player, after Trevor Sinclair, to win the award and he was clearly very proud to be recognised.
"Thanks to everyone who voted me Premier League Player Of The Month for December. Couldn't have done it without my teammates," he wrote on social media site Sports Lobster.
Austin has been a major reason behind QPR having as many points as they do so far this season.
Despite having little experience, he has already accumulated 13 goals and looks one of the most deadly marksmen in the country.
If he can sustain this form for the rest of the season then Harry Redknapp's men appear to be in with a good chance of beating the drop and this award today is sure to increase his already high confidence even further.
