The former England international scored the winner on his debut against Manchester City four years ago.
Aston Villa's lacklustre season has been perpetuated by one distinct issue for the team, a lack of goals. This season they have managed just 11 goals in the Premier League - seven behind Sunderland on 18 as the worst goalscorers in the division.
Luckily Villa have the fifth best defence in the league, or else their current position of 13th would be unsustainable.
Christian Benteke is still struggling to find goals after his recent spell on the sidelines with an Achilles tendon rupture and in reserve, Villa have slim pickings.
What they need is a born goalscorer. A natural finisher who will put the rare amount of chances Villa are creating in the back of the net at will.
Someone like, Darren Bent. Of course Bent is a Villa player, however he has not been a permanent feature at all under the management of Paul Lambert.
Bent, an £18 million signing from Sunderland in 2011, has not played for Villa since November and recently spent a period of time out on loan with Brighton and Hove Albion.
Now he is at Derby County for a similar spell, but still clearly has Villa close to his heart.
Because he took to Instagram yesterday to post a 'Throwback Thursday' picture on his account. The image he chose was his debut goal against Manchester City, the winner in a 1-0 triumph, from January 2011.
Villa could really do with a goalscorer like him to get through the end of this season.
