Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez has never been on the losing team when facing a side managed by Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini.
The Manchester outfit currently lie in second spot, 11 points clear of the Gunners in fifth, and are looking for a repeat performance of their sensational 6-3 win over Wenger’s side last season.
While City undoubtedly go into the match at the Etihad stadium as favourites, interestingly Pellegrini may not feel as confident with the visitors boasting his fellow countryman Sanchez.
“Every game I see him [Sanchez] making a great effort, showing great commitment, ambition and the maturity needed to keep improving year after year.” Pellegrini told Spanish paper AS during the week. “I'm happy for him because at this time he is the best player in English football.”
Aside from recently calling the Chilean attacker the best player in the Premier League, Sanchez seemingly holds a hoodoo over Pellegrini by remaining undefeated against him in a whopping nine encounters, according to AS.
Seven wins and two draws for the former Barcelona man is the official score, with the majority of those coming during his time at the Nou Camp when Pellegrini was in charge at his former La Liga club Malaga.
In their most recent encounter, Sanchez hauled the North Londoners level with five minutes remaining to prevent City from claiming the three points in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
So will it be 10th time lucky for 'the Engineer', or will Sanchez preserve his fantastic undefeated streak against his compatriot?
It’s set up to for an excellent game, although many observers will believe that the likely inclusion of 14-goal Sergio Aguero may finally tip the balance in Pelelgrini’s favour.
