Paulinho produced an excellent display against Burnley, to help Tottenham to a 4-2 FA Cup third round win.
The Brazilian midfielder scored an important goal, pulling one back from close range just two minute after Burnley had gone 2-0 up.
His strike halted Burnley's shock early momentum, and appeared to hand him confidence too.
Paulinho played a further hand in Tottenham's goals, with Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches and Danny Rose completing an unlikely quartet of scorers, to set up a fourth round tie against Leicester City.
Whether Paulinho is around to feature against the Foxes remains a topic of debate.
Football Italia reported this week that directors from Italian champions Juventus have flown to London to discuss a deal to sign the midfielder with Tottenham. Spurs are said only to be interested in a permanent sale rather than a loan.
Paulinho, 26, has not started a single Premier League game this season, playing seven times in the league off the bench, restricted instead to cup competitions, a far from satisfactory situation for the midfielder.
His display against Burnley can work one of two ways. It could demonstrate to head coach Maurico Pochettino that Spurs have better squad depth than he felt, and that Paulinho is capable of playing a big role with Tottenham currently in the hunt in three cup competitions while battling for a top four place.
Alternately Paulinho's performance could have added to his price tag, or at least shown Juventus he is worth spending money on the buy permanently, having had little this season on which to form a positive opinion.
Here is a look at how fans reacted to his display...
Soldado had 2 assists and link play was very good, just can't score. Paulinho prob best I've seen him play for very long time #COYS— Paul Whitehead (@pdw8) January 15, 2015
Chiriches, Paulinho, capoue AND Rose score? #coys surely this is a miracle.— Tom (@KanelsAbel) January 14, 2015
Sounds like a good win for us tonight. Hopefully that'll make the Juventus chairman get his chequebook out for Paulinho! #THFC— Lew (@LewisSpurs90) January 14, 2015
