Tottenham evening media round-up, Coventry youngster interest, latest striker rumour

Emmanuel Adebayor

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday evening.

Tottenham are leading the race to sign Coventry City teenager James Maddison according to a report in London 24.

The reports likens 18-year-old Maddison to Luka Modric, who was one of the most prestigious names to have played at White Hart Lane in recent years, before he moved on to Real Madrid.

The playmaker is also reportedly attracting interest from other Premier League names including Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Roma are eyeing a move for Emmanuel Adebayor according to Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The forward has recently been linked with Parma as a number of sides have been linked with the Togo international. He is out of favour this season, partly because of the fine form of Harry Kane leading the Spurs attack.

Spurs winger Andros Townsend is quoted in the London Evening Standard that there is a belief among the squad that they can compete on all four fronts, and even end up winning a cup treble.

Tottenham made it through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after coming from two goals down to overcome Burnley in a replay at White Hart Lane. They are in the semi-finals of the League Cup and are in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Townsend said: “We have got an opportunity to go far in the FA Cup, the Capital One Cup and the Europa League. We have got the squad and the belief to go on a run on all four fronts.

“February and March will be difficult months but, hopefully, we have got the squad to pull it off. There are a lot of games coming up. With a big squad, it is important that the manager rotates the team.”
