Report: Liverpool set to recall Jordon Ibe from Derby loan spell

Jordon Ibe

Jordon Ibe had enjoyed a productive spell with Championship side Derby County.

A report in the Daily Mail has indicated that 19-year-old attacking midfielder Jordon Ibe is set to return to Liverpool after a loan spell with Derby.

The youngster made 24 appearances for the Rams this season, 20 of which came in the Championship, and he scored five goals to help the Midlands club into contention for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Despite signing a season-long loan with Steve McClaren’s men, it appears as if Brendan Rodgers wants him back at Anfield to inject a fresh face into his faltering Liverpool, and the report has claimed he will not be heading back out on loan as of yet.

An England youth international, Ibe signed for Liverpool in 2012, agreeing to switch Wycombe Wanderers for the top flight, although he has only made two Premier League appearances for the Premier League runners-up. He spent last season on loan with Birmingham City in the Championship, before signing with Derby at the start of this campaign.

With the success of Raheem Sterling in the Liverpool ranks, it is likely Ibe will be looking to make a similar impact by showing the kind of impressive form on Merseyside as he displayed during his stay with the Rams.
